Simply Southern I Do's

A few weeks ago my sister got married and the wedding was a beautiful, country sheek affair, infused with a southern theme.  It was set at the Museum of the Appalachia in the Smokey Mountains, and I can say it was absolutely a night to remember.  She and her handsome hubby were married outside in the fields and then we had one heck of a hoedown inside the barn.  Here's a few pictures and ideas from the perfect evening that should get your boots kickin'!

Beautifully lit mason jars lined the dance floor.

 Centerpieces with country sheek flair.

 The guest book table.

Even babies got in on the theme!

Party favors doubled as drink glasses for the evening.

The bar was adorned with hanging, candlelit lanterns.

I can't think of better toasting glasses for this soiree!

The groom reels in the bride.....with jewelry of course!

This groom's cake was quite the catch!

What do you think he was up to?

The bride and other boot scooters.

My other sister and fellow bridesmaid.  Cowboy boots were a requirement for this evening!

The happy couple riding off into the a truck bed of course!

Pops of Corals and Blues

When I think of summer and the ocean, two color schemes come to mind... blues and corals.  I love this color combo as I seem to keep buying items in these pallets.  My husband says it reminds him of University of Florida, which we are NOT big fans of, but I still love this combo.  Here's a few pictures with this color scheme I'm totally crushing on!

Banana Republic Chambray Top // J. Crew Striped Skirt // Stella & Dot Jewelry // Jessica Simpson Shoes

Summer Accessories from Stella & Dot

Today I want to welcome my newest sponsor, Stella & Dot!  When Aimee approached me about advertising on my blog, I couldn't have been more excited.  I am a HUGE fan of the trendy, yet classic jewelry line as I already own several pieces from a few seasons ago.  If you're not familiar, Stella & Dot typically sells in home trunk shows, but what is great about their line, is you can also buy it online.  If you buy a piece of Stella & Dot, you'll see why I love it so much.  The quality is top notch, the pieces are on trend yet many of them will be classics for seasons to come, and the prices are almost always less than $100 per item.  Here's a few of my favorites from their summer line....

Lindsay Bangle -$59 // Carrie Bangle- $59 // Jules Ring- $49

If you like these pieces, then you'll want to check out the complete Stella & Dot jewelry line at stellaanddot.comIf you're interested in hosting a trunk show at your house, it's really easy to qualify for free jewelry.  For a show of over $500 in retail Stella & Dot is giving an additional $50 in free jewelry to the hostess. Free jewelry and up to 4 half off items.  Yes, please!  Contact Aimee at for more information.

Ikat Prints

While shopping last weekend in Chicago, I started to notice a lot of stores carrying the oh so popular Ikat prints.  These prints have been hot for a few years, but like most trends it takes a while to show up in all the main stream stores.  If you don't know what the Ikat print is, think of a place like India,  and imagine all the bright colored, fun patterns usually associated with their fabrics and accessories.  Those are the inspirations for the plethora of Ikat prints you'll see this season. The colors and patterns can be a little out there, but I'm so drawn to the bright, eye catching colors that I'm willing to step out of my comfort zone for this trend.  Here's a few Ikat inspirations to get you started...

Of course Ikat is super hot in fashions as well...

Waterfall Braids

I absolutely love summertime as it is a time to unwind, spend time at the pool or beach, and to totally embody that laid back life style.  However, sometimes unfortunate as it is, our hair will pay the price.  I am usually in no mood in the mornings to wash it since I know the heat and humidity will have it looking a mess come lunch these days, I'm opting for the braided look.  I have featured the fish tail braid in the past, as I frequent that look, but now I'm ready to branch out into some other braid trends.  With that being said, today I'm bringing you all the waterfall braid.

This braided up do is part waterfall, part twist...... but how perfect is this for a night out, a wedding, or just when you want to pull your hair up in something besides a ponytail?

Click HERE to view a video on how to pull off this look....

I can't wait to try out this look on my hair.  What do you think?  Will you be trying the waterfall braid this summer?
