Planning the Perfect Picnic at Arrington Vineyards

We have a really beautiful place lots of locals like to go to on the weekend to sip and be scene and that place is Arrington Vineyards.  "Arrington", as we all call it, is a vineyard founded by legendary country music artist Kix Brooks and is located just south of Nashville in the rolling hills known as Arrington, TN.  The thing I love about Arrington is the wine is surprisingly good, we're not really known for our vineyards in Tennessee, and the views are breathtaking.  I'm not the only one who thinks this.  On any given Spring, Summer, or Fall weekend, you will see literally hundreds of people milling around the premises setting up picnics and rolling out blankets to enjoy the great wines and unbelievable music talent they have preforming nightly.   Sign up for a tasting, but get there before five or you won't get in for the evening,  and then buy the wines on the premises.  Other than that, you can bring all your foods and non-alcoholic beverages.  You can imagine that some people really get into the "picnic" aspect of the night.  I've seen entire table/centerpiece displays and the vineyard has even been know to host contests on the most amazing tabletops.  We haven't had the pleasure of a night out at Arrington, but we are planning one,  so today I'm going to share what like to include when planning the perfect picnic.

First up, the wine.  At Arrington, you buy their wine and one of our favorites, among many, is their KB 409.  You can buy this at the vineyard or on line.  This bottle is a little pricey, but it is so worth the $49.  If you want something for a special occasion, you should try this wine.  It's fabulous!

You have to have a stylish picnic basket to hold all your goodies and this one I found on Etsy is perfect and affordable.  The monogram is included, which is nice since here in the South, if it sits still long enough we'll monogram it!
$29

I am totally crushing on the DIY picnic blanket.  Click here to find out how she did it.

I love fill my basket with breads, cheeses, meats, and olives.  It's low maintenance and people can make their own plates filled with their favorites.

Of course, mini cupcakes!  These are super easy for everyone to enjoy and a great way to complete the meal.

So what do you include in the perfect picnic?

  1. This sounds like my kind of place! I love the things you chose and that's my kind of picnic for sure. I'll even have that for dinner when I don't know what I want. Thanks for the suggestion. We're not too far from Nashville so we could make a day or weekend out of it. :)

  4. oh man, that looks de-lish! We moved from San Francisco 9 years ago, and I miss picnics in wine country! that is exactly what I put in my basket ... olives, crusty bread, prosciutto, pate, perhaps a pear ... maybe some cheese. But of course wine! my favorite is a beautifully buttery Chardonnay. Can't be beat - in my opinion :)
